Wood acts as the foundation for the speed bump, as it is built up and nailed down to the roof. The next step is covering these in rubber.
Rubber is placed over the wood to create the speedbumps.
The speed bumps have been completed, and they will help prevent the ice dam issues these customers were having in the past.
These customers had issues year after year with ice dams and decided it was finally time to do something about it. Their issue wasn't just that ice dams formed, but rather the snow and ice would get build up then break off and go thundering down to the ground below, often clipping the windows or window sills. The solution was to build what we call speed bumps. These are structures built in as part of the roof, and they act as a stopper to prevent the ice and snow from going tumbling off the roof in massive buildups and chunks.
